Resurgence

I was minding my own business tonight when this word, RESURGENCE, came into my spirit so strong. Then the clarity immediately followed. These are the times I drop everything and write.

A resurgence, by definition, is a strong comeback, revival, or growing increase of something after a period of decline, inactivity, or being forgotten.

This season we are in, as the Body of Christ, is RESURRECTION, COMEBACK, RESURGENCE, and REVIVAL. Let me explain.

When I heard the word RESURGENCE, I also got a feeling and saw a picture in my mind’s eye. Sometimes the Lord helps me understand by allowing me to feel. In this case, what I felt was connected to what I saw, and I will do my best to articulate it.

I saw a tide … the ebb and the flow of the water. But these were not small lapping waves. There was nothing relaxing about this image or this feeling. It wasn’t “stressful” either. But there was power and authority in it.

I saw people who have had extreme successes in the past. Their TIDE had come in previously. The tide of fame, the tide of fortune, the tide of creativity, the tide of love, the tide of dreams fulfilled, the tide of purpose, etc. And the tide was big when it came in. Perhaps there were even multiple tidal seasons. The rising phase of the tide is when water moves landward from the sea toward the shore. It is also known as “flood stage.” And these people I saw in my mind’s eye had lived through significant flood stages.

But then I saw the ebb.

The ebb is the period after high water when the water level falls and the current moves seaward. In other words, the water recedes.

I saw the highest of high tides followed by the lowest of low ebbs. These ebbs were proportionate to the highs. High highs … and low lows. These ebbs were deep and dark - some may even say “the dark night of the soul.” Pain and despair, heartache and loss, grief and depression, anger and resentment, offense and bitterness. These are not “a few bad days.” These are life-altering experiences.

But the ebbs will not be wasted. They are actually the fuel behind this resurgence.

Resurgence vs. Comeback

When I heard the word RESURGENCE, I paused because I realized I didn’t fully understand the context or application. I knew what I saw and felt in the spirit, but I did not know how it was different from the Comeback Season we are in.

As I asked the Lord about this, it became very clear.

A comeback usually implies an intentional, active effort by an individual or a specific group to regain their former status. It is often used when there is a clear "underdog" story.

A resurgence, however, refers to a broader, often systemic trend, wave, or phenomenon rising again without a single driving force. It is used when discussing a widespread revival. For instance, if inflation or a disease drops and then spikes again, it is a resurgence. It describes the overall wave of activity rather than a personal victory.

Think of RESURGENCE as A CORPORATE COMEBACK. ← ← ←

This is the best way to describe what I am sensing.

Resurrection & Revival

In the Spring of this year (2026), around Easter (which I refer to as Resurrection SONday), the Lord began to speak to me about Resurrection Season. I wrote a song called Purpose Is A Person during that time.

Resurrection implies rising from the dead. This is not just an awakening after a period of inactivity. It is LIFE returning to what was once DEAD. I believe God resurrected some people this year - some hopes, dreams, and visions - that were dead for a long time. Not just dormant … dead.

After the word about Resurrection Season, the Lord began to speak to me about Comeback Season and said it would be messy (read that blog post here). There have been many confirmations of this, and I believe we are still in this season. We will continue to see comebacks - notable ones - over the next year.

These comebacks will coincide with the RESURGENCE we are moving into now. The individual comebacks will actually work together collectively to contribute to the resurgence.

RESURRECTION → COMEBACK → RESURGENCE → REVIVAL

Watch & Pray

As we move into this RESURGENCE (the Lord will not allow me to call this a “season” - it is an event in the spirit), we will begin to see confirmations across cultures, industries, networks, people groups, programs, divisions, and nations.

IMPORTANT: This is not the tsunami of revival that is coming. And IT IS coming! This is preparing the way for the tsunami.

When a tsunami comes ashore, there is a massive receding of the water before it arrives. All of the energy and momentum are swept into creating the tsunami. Anyone with understanding will know what is coming by simply looking at what is happening before it comes. (Read that again.)

This RESURGENCE is essentially that recession before the pouring out. It is a culmination of energy and momentum that will be corporate and collective in the Body of Christ. This is the fruit of being UNITED AND IGNITED. I see people “fishing” all over the world. Like-minded, like-hearted believers … with their own unique callings and assignments and vision from the Lord … going ALL IN … knowing the times and seasons … and doing their part to join in what God is building in the earth for such a time as this.

Now is the time to watch and pray. We must be in tune with His Spirit.

The Slack Tide

I heard this earlier in my spirit … “This is the third trimester. It’s not supposed to be comfortable.”

You may have days when you feel like you are carrying a 12-pound baby around in your spiritual womb. You will feel the heaviness. You will get tired. You will want to just “take it easy” until the baby comes.

Listen to me … YOU CANNOT TAKE IT EASY RIGHT NOW.

You CANNOT. Period.

Yes, rest. Yes, take care of yourself. Yes, be sensitive to what your spirit, soul, and body need during this critical time in the birthing process. But you CANNOT take it easy. You CANNOT slack off.

I mentioned the ebb and tide, but there is one more phase that is involved in the tidal currents. It is known as the slack tide. It is the brief, calm window between the ebb and flood currents when the water pauses, changes direction, and has little to no horizontal movement. The current actually slows down to nearly zero.

Beloved, whatever you do … you cannot pause, change directions, or stop moving.

You MUST keep going.

This RESURGENCE depends on every single one of us doing our part - with passion, purpose, and momentum.

This corporate comeback requires ALL of us to stay steady, seek the Lord, participate with His plan, and follow through with His instructions. We must carry on to completion the good works we have begun with Him. He is guaranteed to do His part. We just have to commit to do ours.

Sometimes it will feel like you are drinking from a fire hydrant, but there will be “grace to guzzle.”

Whatever you do … DON’T QUIT.

You are not finished.

As I close, I am getting a picture of some injured athletes. People who have been taken out of the game. They are on the sidelines. These are not minor injuries. They are season-ending. I believe this is both literal and metaphorical. This is a specific word for some athletes, and it is also a word for those in the Body of Christ who are on the IR (Injured Reserve) … they aren’t able to perform at full capacity for some reason. The Lord sent me to tell you … you are not finished. You are in His will. This is all part of His plan. Nothing is wasted. It will ALL be part of your glory story. BUT … while you wait … WORK. Work on your heart and your spirit. Work on getting healthy in your body. But I specifically see you working on a new vision from the Lord that will cause you to rise up in ways you did not previously consider or imagine. Ask Him. Pray and obey.

Flying Blind

Final word …

At times, it will feel like you are flying blind. Your radars and instruments are “offline.” You cannot see what lies ahead. Your safety blankets have been removed.

God is not blind.

He sees it all.

Trust Him.

Jesus, I ask You to bless our progress as we move forward together, united and ignited for Your Glory. Give us the grace to guzzle and the desire to keep going. Amen.
