The Shower Curtain Revelation

God reminded me this morning, as I was replacing an old shower curtain liner, that He is outside of time.

Allow me to explain.

I was replacing an old shower curtain liner this morning, and I got the bright idea to remove it and replace it at the same time.

I took the old one off while simultaneously adding the new one, one ring at a time. It may sound elementary to some of you - perhaps you have been doing this all of your life. Today, I got a revelation. Lol.

Not only is this the fastest way to replace a shower curtain liner, but it is also a profound way to understand how God moves in certain seasons.

I believe we have been accustomed to expect that we need to completely remove the old before we can install the new.

Today, I realize … that is absolutely not true.

And actually, it is not only not true, but I believe this misconception of who God is - and the way He moves in our lives - has created many delays for the children of God.

God is outside of time.

We are not.

We expect to finish one project before we start another … this is politically correct. But as a woman, I fully understand the concept of multi-tasking. And if I can multi-task like a boss, working on multiple projects at once, then my Father in Heaven who created me must be a mind-blowing multi-tasker!

What does this mean?

It means that He can SIMULTANEOUSLY heal my heart, remove debris, cast out anything unholy, expel toxicity, and excavate as needed … WHILE AT THE SAME TIME … installing something beautiful and new in my spirit, soul, and body. He can renew my mind and bless my heart at the same time. He can change me and overwhelm me with His goodness at the same time. He can make “out with the old, in with the new” a unified transaction. In other words, God can make withdrawals AND deposits on the same day, in the same moment, if He wants to.

The sun rises and sets in a 24 hour period. Imagine what God can start AND finish in our lives in a single day.

God can do a quick work. Don’t underestimate Him. Don’t superimpose your timeline over His. Don’t imagine He can’t work miracles and perform suddenlies in your life. It’s who He is. He is a WONDER WORKING God.

I sense this is a timely word for some people who have been feeling like they need to have it all figured out - and have it all together - before they move forward. But get this …

God is right there where you are, right now.

He is in the middle of your mess, and He is ready to bless.

The opportunity that brings lasting victory is before you. You just need to embrace the pace and trust the process. I know I do.

I have personally held myself back by imagining that I need to take the old shower curtain completely off before I put the new one on (let the reader understand), but God is showing me that I just need to walk with Him … moment by moment … “ring by ring” and let Him add the new while He is gently working on removing the old.

Sigh. Isn’t life just a wild and interesting ride?

The beauty of allowing God to be God … of letting go and letting God MOVE … is that His ways are so much higher and better than ours. He always wins! There is always victory when He is involved.

Releasing control is the hardest part. (Read that again.)

So many of us have a control complex. We want to know the end before the beginning, but we are not God. We are not omnicient or omnipresent. He is. We are not all-knowing. He is.

So this is a matter of trust, right?

Trusting Him to lead. Trusting that He is good. Trusting that the drama and trauma from the past is over. Trusting that He cares for my heart. Trusting that He has a plan for my life - to prosper me and not to harm me. Trusting that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Trusting that He will open (and close) doors according to His perfect will. Trusting that He is a Defender and Protector and that He is Wise and Wonderful.

Trust.

By the time the old was gone, the new was already installed.

Lessons I did not expect to learn from a shower curtain this morning … but I am so glad I did.

Out with the old, in with the new, Jesus.
